For months, a fellow business owner kept raving about ActionCOACH Reggie Shropshire. It’s been a little more than a year since we finally attended that first ActionCOACH seminar, and quite frankly, we don’t know why we waited so long! Pat, a nationally renowned expert in the

medical insurance industry, started our business 16 years ago, but working with Reggie Shropshire this past year has been one of our most productive and fruitful years to date!

Our business hinges on Pat’s specific expertise. Reggie quickly identified that like many small businesses, our company’s ability to run effectively resided solely with the owner since much of Pat’s valuable knowledge was only “in her head”. We’ve established several systems like our Operations Manual and a default calendar that assists Pat in better managing her time. We’ve also used the ActionCOACH hiring format to find two new employees. We thought it was impossible to find good help in this town, but Reggie proved us wrong; we’re very pleased with the two newest members of our team. By creating strong systems for them to follow and by delegating some of the administrative tasks that used to bog us down, we’ve made room to pursue some long-term goals for the company.

Once again, Reggie’s influence has been crucial to our success in this area. With his help, we’ve created a timeline to reach our goals. For example, Pat has wanted to write a book about patient advocate practices in the medical insurance industry for years, but it felt like a daunting task. We used to put big projects like this off until “next month”, but in fifteen years, “next month” still hadn’t come…. Reggie showed us how to break that big goal down into smaller, achievable segments, and now Pat’s making real progress on her book.

We’ve also benefited from the group coaching in Profit Club, which is a small club of business owners who meet monthly to strategize together so they can increase profits in their respective businesses. Reggie is well-connected in the business community and is an excellent resource for referrals. He has introduced us to some of the greatest people we know, many of whom have become strong business associates and good friends. From his seminars to Profit Club to private coaching, Reggie’s entire system works together to make you a better business person.

In a year when the nation has suffered from a recession, we’ve nearly doubled our staff, improved our systems, and increased our revenues. We’re right on track for achieving some of our goals: creating our own training products and classes for patient advocates in the medical insurance industry and opening up new offices in other locations, all while working smarter instead of harder. As business owners, our new systems will allow us to eventually scale back to a 4-day work week instead of a 5-day work week.
